2 Timothy 3:14-15
"But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus."
First of all, I was encouraged to CONTINUE. I was reading at 6:00 a.m. this morning after waking up at 5:30 to breastfeed. I was planning to exercise at 6:30 and then prepare for the boy I babysit to arrive at 7:30. It was just one of those mornings that I felt too tired to continue, and God directed my heart to these verses. Thank You, Lord!
Secondly, continue in what? Well, I know that Paul was writing this to Timothy, and earlier Paul tells us that Timothy has the same genuine faith that his mother and grandmother did. Those verses, along with these, would suggest that his mother and grandmother taught him God's Word and the Gospel, and that was what he was to continue in. I'm so grateful that my parents did the same. How awesome to be able to have learned God's Word from childhood. The very Word that makes me wise unto salvation through Christ. And not only a one-time salvation from an eternity in hell, it is a day-to-day salvation from indwelling sin and my desire to live for myself instead of for God's glory. Like I said, awesome!
Thirdly, I was challenged to (by God's grace) be the kind of mother that teaches her children these things. My desire would be for my sons to "continue in the things which you have learned . . . from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures." What a great reminder this morning as I prepared to live another day for God's glory with 2 toddlers and a baby.
Speaking of the children, let me show you a few photos of them. Here they are at lunch time. Lunch time is either amazing (all 3 are contained, strapped into seats and cannot go anywhere, and are happily filling their tummies with food), or awful (I am breastfeeding one while another is throwing a tantrum and refusing to eat his food, while the 3rd one is throwing food on the floor). Today, God allowed it to be amazing. :)
Kendrick - the oldest - the leader, instigator, and occasionally the temper tantrum thrower.
Caleb - the "middle child" - the follower and thrower of the food.

I haven't been here in quite a while, and just noticed I had a new 'follower' on my blog, and saw it was you! I'm trying to 'follow' yours but not sure if it is working.. I will keep trying!
I didn't know you watched another little boy also, wow!! I am sure you have such tiring times, I will try to keep you in prayer often! In a few years, it will be quite a different challenge ;)
