Easter Mountain

Yesterday we made our Easter Mountain. This is an idea I got from a book by Noel Piper. We've done it every Easter since Kendrick was born, but this is the first time he's actually participated. The idea is to make a mountain out of play dough and then bake it. You can use it as the hill for Jesus' crucifixion and for his tomb. On Friday, Jesus goes on the cross, and later in the day you place Him in the tomb. Sunday morning you take Him out - He's alive! What an awesome tool to teach your kids about the gospel.

Here we are making the play dough.

After it has baked you can color it. This was a highlight for Kendrick. He got to use markers instead of crayons - very exciting!

Camden watched interestedly.

Today we added the cross and read "What Is Easter?" We got to share the gospel with Caleb as we read the book - awesome. (I know, Caleb looks thrilled.)

Later I had Kendrick "read" the book again to Camden. His interpretation was precious. "These eggs are not Easter, Camen," he said, pointing at the Easter eggs. "Jesus on the cross," he pointed to the cross, "This is Easter. Jesus is alive!"

Love it!

Psalm 78:4, 6-7
"We will not hide them from their children,
Telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD,

And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done.

That the generation to come might know them,

The children who would be born,

That they may arise and declare them to their children,

That they may set their hope in God,

And not forget the works of God,

But keep His commandments."
