God of My Salvation

I was just reading in Psalm 68. Here's verse 19 -

"Blessed be the Lord,
Who daily loads us with benefits,
The God of our salvation!"

It has been a roller coaster week for me, emotionally speaking. I've had several highs and several lows. I LOVE how God uses His Word along with His Holy Spirit to feed me with just what I need. I needed to be reminded of God's goodness, no matter what my circumstances. Don't you love how this verse describes our God? He is the One who daily loads us with benefits. He doesn't just give us a few - it says He loads us with them - every day. Awesome. As I was reading the commentary I loved what they said about the latter part of the verse:

"The God of our salvation is a great title for the One who saved Israel from Egypt, who saved Israel from their sin, who continues to save His people in their daily lives, and who will glorify His people in the future."

This really helped me to put things into perspective - into God's big picture perspective. If God is the God of my salvation (and He is), then why do I doubt His goodness or doubt He would care about the "small" circumstances in my day? If He is big enough to handle my salvation, is He not big enough to handle my daily struggles? Of course He is. And I am so grateful for that reminder today.

When I am tempted to be discouraged by my disobedient toddler, by my screaming infant, by the closeness of our living quarters, or by the lack of communication from a friend, I need to remember that my God is the God of my salvation. He has loaded me with blessings, and one of those blessings is the ability (through His Holy Spirit) to think and act right no matter what my circumstances.

Thank You, Lord, for being the God of my salvation today and every day.
