Blessings

Last night while Kyle was preparing his youth group lesson I was sitting across the table from him reflecting on the day. It was full of so many blessings, I thought I'd share a few of them with you . . .

  • Waking up at 6:30 to the smiling face of Kendrick who just crawled into bed with me (along with Buzz Lightyear).
  • Kyle & Camden joining us in bed and the 4 of us hiding under the sheet - giggles were had by all.
  • Watching Kendrick try to pick Camden up and hearing him say, "Camen, I just can't carry you all the time. You're too heavy." Never mind the fact that Kendrick is physically unable to lift 20-pound Camden.
  • Throwing Camden into the laundry basket of freshly dried clothes and listening to him giggle.
  • Drawing pictures with Kendrick . . . pictures of family "hanging out with the cows" ?? (Naturally, what else would we want to hang out with?)
  • Stepping on the scale and seeing the number 136! This is what the Wii says my healthy weight is.
  • Hearing, "Mommy, I have to go potty!" and finding underwear that is still dry by the time we make it to the potty.
  • Hiding under our huge orange blanket so that Daddy couldn't find us when he got home from work. The giggles of 2 little boys gave away our hiding place.
  • Kyle complimenting the dinner I made for him.
  • Sitting on a park bench with Camden watching Kyle & Kendrick swing. Kyle was being ridiculously silly while Kendrick laughed uncontrollably.
  • Giving Kendrick underdogs while he laughed with excitement. Camden giggled in the swing next to him, trying to copy his big brother.
  • Finding out the gender of Chad & Erica's baby #3.
  • Kisses from my Kyle.
None of these blessings are inherently spiritual, while at the same time they are. All the blessings God gives us are designed to point us back to Him, the Giver of good things. I was reading in Psalm 112 last night. Verse 1 says it all -

Psalm 112:1
"Praise the Lord!
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
Who delights greatly in His commandments."

Thank You, Lord, for evidencing this truth in my life today. You truly are a good God.
